Before Clare Communications existed, our founder Paul Sheeran was out helping rural churches across regional NSW with their sound system issues. From Armidale to Gunnedah to the Central Coast, word spread — and in 1978, he decided to make it official.
The Foundation
Clare Communications quickly became known as specialists in custom design and implementation of Public Address and Sound Reinforcement systems. Working primarily within the education and religion sectors, we branched into Induction Loop and Automated Bell systems. By the time word reached greater Sydney, the reputation was already built.
Expansion & Growth
In 2001, Donal O'Sullivan took over as director, expanding the company's repertoire to include performance systems — stage lighting, automation, interactive whiteboards, digital signage and more. With Irena Puzas holding the fort at the office since 2002, and Matt Donovan joining the management team in 2007, the company has continued to move from strength to strength, diverging into community centres, libraries, train stations, gymnasiums, and premium retail.
The Team Today
Craig & Simon, our lead installation technicians, have been with the company for over 20 years — there's likely not an AV system or installation they haven't come across in their careers. Kyle Stuart joined us at just 18 years old, immediately after we completed the installation at his high school hall — Marist College Eastwood. Kyle has not left schools since, becoming an invaluable resource matching technical capability & execution with the needs of schools and education environments. Matt Donovan brings an extensive background in live production and audio engineering, leading him to be known as one of Sydney's best audio engineers for house of worship spaces. Jason Hatswell is our lead project manager with an impressive career across commercial audio in the UK & Australia — before joining us, Jason worked at Bosch, where he was the mind behind PA in Sydney's extensive tunnel network. Debbi is the backbone of our logistics operation — there isn't a manufacturer in Australia she can't get a firm date out of. Brendan conducts the orchestra of technicians, installers, service and projects as our operations manager. Plus Xavier (our service guru) and Brian. We have low staff turnover and high customer retention for a reason — the team behind the dream.
Our Commitment
Clare Communications has always been known for quality service and customer satisfaction, keeping technology seamless, and achieving the desired aesthetics and practical purpose as per the customer's needs. We deliver precision across audio visual, stage lighting, digital signage, control systems, and digital sound processors.
Our Values
We hold firmly to the ethos of keeping things personal, and being able to stand by any work undertaken. We shy away from being overly corporate, preferring to build genuine relationships in which both customer and supplier come out of the job satisfied. We believe in giving back to the community and support environmental sustainability.
