Our Story

Before its official inception as Clare Communications Ltd in 1978, founder Paul Sheeran had been working with rural churches throughout the mid-seventies, helping out with their sound system issues in and around regional NSW. From Armidale to Gunnedah to the Central Coast, his help became quite well known within this community, and after a few years of assisting in an informal capacity, Paul decided to formalise his endeavours.  By this time, word of his efforts had reached greater Sydney, and Clare Communications quickly became known as specialists in custom design and implementation of Public Address and Sound Reinforcement systems.  Working primarily within the education and religion sectors, we branched quickly into Induction Loop and Automated Bell systems.

Having been with the company since 1995, in 2001 Donal O’Sullivan took over as director of Clare Communications, and has since expanded the company’s repertoire to include performance systems such as stage lighting, automation, interactive whiteboards, digital signage and more besides.  Donal spent much of his time out on the road servicing the ever expanding area of clients, with our Office Manager, Irena Puzas coming on board in 2002 to hold the fort back at the office.  With an increased supplier base and product range, as well as the addition to our management team of Matt Donovan in 2007, the company has continued to move from strength to strength, diverging into new markets, including Community Centres, libraries, train stations, gymnasiums and more.

Clare Communications has always been known, and continues to strive, for quality service and customer satisfaction, keeping technology seamless, and achieving the desired aesthetics and practical purpose as per the customer’s needs.  We have built on our reputation to be considered not only as sound specialists, but also a company who can deliver the same amount of precision with audio visual, stage lighting, digital signage, control and digital sound processors, for simplicity and streamlining of complex communications systems.

Clare Communications holds firmly to the ethos of keeping things personal, and being able to stand by any work undertaken.  We shy away from being overly corporate, preferring to build genuine relationships in which both customer and supplier come out of the job satisfied.   We believe in giving back to the community, and are supporters of charitable causes including donation of equipment and time where needed.  We also support environmental sustainability, encouraging recycling of batteries and electrical componentry, and use green power in our offices.
